Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Dr Laurence McKenna

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Dr Laurence McKenna specialises in helping people who are distressed by tinnitus and sleep problems, particularly when these difficulties have become long-standing or overwhelming. With over 40 years’ clinical experience, he brings a depth of understanding that combines psychology, audiology, and evidence-based therapy.
He worked for almost four decades at the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals (part of UCLH), previously known as the Royal National Throat, Nose & Ear Hospital, where he helped shape the psychological care of people with tinnitus and hearing-related conditions. His approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, both of which are recommended treatments for tinnitus-related distress and insomnia.
Patients often seek Dr McKenna’s help when tinnitus is affecting sleep, concentration, mood, or quality of life, or when insomnia has become closely linked with anxiety or heightened awareness of sound. His work focuses on helping people change their relationship with tinnitus and sleep, reducing distress and restoring a sense of control.
